Maxis Broadband is suck!
I have using Maxis Broadband more than half year but I feel Maxis was cheating me as a customer. They provide half year for your testing but still need to paid. First few month they provided fast speed wireless broadband to your demo period. After the demo period or half year you will get slow speed broadband. Now I always need to restart the equipment every time the broadband slow. (This is their solution) . Maxis just provided suck and poor broadband service. If you late to make payment, they have extra charge to you but they provided slow broadband to you, do you think they rebate the bill?

Yesterday i went to Maxis KLCC and their staff with arrogance face say something like this.."Your house not covered with 3.5G.. That's why so slow.. What you can do, cut the connection and pay RM200..!!"

Hi there, I stopped using Maxis USB Broadband about a month ago as the monthly bill was too darn expensive for me - RM138/month! I applied for it last December so I'm stuck with paying RM138 a month while new users who sign up later get to pay less. Well, I don't think that's quite fair since I signed up earlier. But they say, promotion lah, this lah, that lah, they have excuses.
So, recently I went to the nearest Maxis centre to return the USB package and I had to pay RM200 to terminate my account. If I had used this Maxis broadband for more than 12 months, then I wouldn't need to pay. But I've only used it for eight months. :( Well, at least paying RM200 now would save me more money later. I certainly don't enjoy paying RM138 a month!
Besides that, P2P is slow too. It's much faster with Streamyx! :D

i've experienced the same thing too.
the fastest connection that i've received is during morning time, that is 6am-11am.. the rest of the day is very frustrating and nerve-racking as the connection is very, very slow.
yes,when i use mxs broadband,the connection will lost every 5 minits.I am playing online game,sure u know how my feeling when i got kill just because of maxis lagging.
In fact all the wireless broadband provider are the same, don't your think so?
For my experiences in wireless industrial, you will never constantly get 70% of your packages that you subscribe, the limitation is :
1) Wireless Devices (known as CPE, Customer Premise Equipment)
Lack of power to transmit signal back to the station
2) blockage
During sent and received data, wireless broadband speed is very much depend
on the location of you CPE, the more object being block, the slower the
speed that you will get
3) bandwidth Sharing
broadband speed is share among all the user per station or per area
the more user use the same station or at same area, the slower the speed
that you will get
in general, all the broadband provider are having the same issues which is technology is yet to mature, expensive of broadband equipment, expensive of internet bandwidth. by charge a small fees to end user like us, to be honest, they are making lost, but to end user, feel like cheating
No matter which provider (wired or wireless) your subscribe, all you need is luck...

I'm one of maxisbb customers. hmm.. so far I have used 5 months the connection :) is bad. Below 20% of offered service level agreement. I currently subcribed with 3.6 Mbps packages but what I got sometime is 3.6 Bytes/s wow this is our Malaysian proud Internet super corridor Malaysia Boleh access.
I lived in Shah Alam, but no HSDPA access. I was aware Shah Alam is not covered, wait Shah Alam? I though Cherok Tok Kun Kedah have no HSDPA access Shah Alam, Subang and KL also?. I hope maxis will upgrade their infrastructure by including urban area into their coverage, but so far nothing happen.

I agree with MaxisSucks!, we consumers should exercise our power, terminate maxisbb immediately after contract terms end. Don't ever again trapped in flashy and neat maxis adds on tv, astro, etc. Just because they sponsor EPL live game, shitty akademy ass pantasia and etc, doesn't make their services good and cool.

Thanks guys for your feedback. I had already planned to go to Maxis shop to subscribe its broadband. So tonight I thought I should just browse their website for more info.
I accidentally came to this website from google, and Oh boy! Am I relieved to realise that I shouldn't sign up after all the Maxis broadband users have shared their bad customer experience.
Now I will NOT sign up for Maxis broadband anymore until they ensure that their performance measure up. Perhaps everyone should band together to bring about a case action lawsuit against Maxis's unethical business practice.
I am having a headache - slow broadband internet access from Celcom. Not only that, I am barred from accessing the internet via its system. I will terminate my account when the first bill comes for payment. Mobile broadband internet access is not suitable for me and heavy users because we all get penalized!
Its such a shitty service provider. They should not limit usage for some people that surf less. They claim that those people that keep using ( power user ) are the main cause of service degrade. I'm a comp science student that often need to download software which is more than few Gig over time. and 3Gig usage limit is just like u driving a Ferrari but only with the speed of Kancil. Paid RM98 and for 3Gig usage? the ratio is not worth for the money man! Recently received a call from them respond to my feedback which has been emailed to them, till now no solution had been made. Wait till everyone leave MAXIS A$$Band only they start to upgrade their service? Come on Guys! PROVIDE BETTER SERVICE LIKE TMNUT SCREAMYX!

what i do for terminate broadband services
1.send email maxis customer service. then they call me... ask me about the problem (no coverage problem).

3. follow maxis customer service instruction...
-call maxis broadband centre ask them to make sure no coverage in your area.
-tell them, maxis customer service suggest you call them to make sure no coverage in your area for termination your service
4. send back your same email same as before
5. the same guy/gurl (PIC for your problem) from maxis customer service call your later (1 day or less then hour)
- they remark at your account to waived RM200.
6.Go to maxis center, Return modem without any payment.
but they all make a charges for your next phone bill ( not to expensive la)

perggghhh... I was just about to switch to maxis wireless broadband and i googled to this blog...
I am currently subscribing to celcom broadband. since the past 5 months, i also always experience the non-connection issue... the thing is it happens on and off and i've been emailing God-knows how many complaint email to celcom customer service. I demand for rebate but to no avail.
This month again the stupid connection problem occurs. Many complaint calls have been made and many troubleshooting have been tried. The problem still persists. And yeah i totally agree about the game, i've striked high scores but my score couldnt be uploaded, how nerve-wracking it was!!! but that's not so critical.. imagine spending half an hour (at least) looking and checking your connection status with the "X' mark shown, clicking "Diagnose" button God-knows how many times and in the end still fail to load the webpage that u want to surf? It is truly pressurising!!!
We have the choice of wireless and wired broadband... We chose to pay RM98/month for 3.6mpbs speed and for the sake of convenience (wireless). But we get less than 1mbps or even lesser than 512kbps (sometimes even no connection at all!!). They said, look at your service agreement, it's a share based connection. I am staying in the heart of JB and experience non-connection (without reported network failure by the Celcom), it din make sense at all!! Service provider should improve their network coverage then! We have the rights to demand for the value of service we've paid for, not the SHITTY one!!

Im maxis user too... and for the first few months i had the same problems as you guys.. but then i learned that the usb modem or the zte modem is default setting to gprs, or that other lower connection... you have to disconnect and change the setting to only receive wcdma connection... next you need a dns server number with less users than the one maxis currently provide.... that is the one with the larget bandwith but because a lot of people use its become vry congested...
so you can find a free dns number on the net just browse around...
Ever since that my connection has been very good.... my torrents can download up to 4 movies a day and my friends DOTA also goes very well..
My usual speed connection for torrents is usually up to 60-80 kbps. Which isnt as fast as streamyx but better than having to pay 200 unsubscribing fee... Now ive been using it for more than a year and i enjoy it too...
By the way im not maxis supporter or anything.. i just think you have to learn to customize it on your own... i cant write a detailed explanation here but if anyone needs help you can email me hanafee_ar[at]yahoo.com
Nina.... Celcom broadband also needs a lot of default settings changed... youre connected to a DNS which is congested most of the time so i would try that first... Actually living in JB it would suit you better to use maxis broadband but you need to know how to default change the different dns server numbers... Singapores broadband coverage covers most part of metropolitan JB and their DNS can be accessed illegally with the ZTE modem.... However if you using to use great connection in this short perid of a year or so... i would suggest P1 Wimax. Jb users that have registered only around 800 people and the bandwith provided is for 1 million users so currently the P1 Wimax connection in JB is amazing. I am part of research group in UKM studying wireless technology, and we have been co-operating with maxis, celcom and even p1 wimax... However it is estimated that in a year or so, the service provider p1 will be as congested as maxis and celcom so this fast connection will get worst :)
However... i do suggest you try chaging dns servers first because if you unsubscribe you might have to pay some ridiculous fee for unscubscribing... for maxis its like 200 and im not sure for celcom... i wrote another reply to patrick about the broadband technology and how you can enhance its speed... we'll see if he posts it.... get tips there ya???
I agree that maxis is cheating their customers, with the number migration, I am thinking of migrating to celcom? any opinion of how is the celcom service?

I have just terminated my maxis broadband now. After 2 years of hope and pain, now I have peace of mind with streamyx.
Oh, My God ! I am moving to my new house (Bandar Puchong Jaya) on June 2009, the only connection coverage is Maxis only. After I had viewed all this comments, VERY SCARY LAH...... But NOW, is so short that forcing me to apply Maxis without any other choices. And I need the fixed line for my house too. Can anyone give me a thinker for this problem that I am facing now.

i'm using Rm118 monthly package of maxis broadband and my roommate using braodband celcom that only cost her to pay only Rm68 monthly.But the service is much better than mine while i got to pay double for the bill every month.should i just change to celcom????

maxis really su***...i've used the modem pakage for 8 months the service was very very bad but i though its just my lappy getting crazy and unfortunately decide to upgrade to the new broadband paying more (138 per mth) and i get even lousier services..damn. plus they charge me another 200 because i didnt fin my 12mths contact..haloooo..i'd upgrade to pay them MORE and they charge me. i make a phone complain then the next bill instead of cutting those 200 they add another 200 to my bill..so i have decided maxis can go to hell!!

tumpang lalu yer.. ni nak nyebok sket. i baru terminate maxis broadband. i dok kat selayang mulia.. alhamdulillah, so far i guna setahun tu i dpt full signal, HSDPA. mmg laju, click jer, juz 1saat dah leh gi mne2 website. download movie ok jer.. mmg power.. tp i terminate sbb ekonomi global yg bermasalah skrg ni. x mampu nak byr RM138/month ni lg. 2nd march aritu i terminate. cukupla contract i selama setahun. klu ikutkan 18bulan.. tp maxis dah pendek kan contract tu.. i xder byr pape charge tersembunyi pon. juz settle kan bil 138 ni jer la.. alhamdulillah, semua nyer d permudahkan. i takut gak klu kena byr byk2 seperti komen2 yg i dah bce kat website lain tu.. thanks maxis!!

I've been a Maxis Broadband subscriber for the past 12 months now. Would you like to know my average broadband speed? FYI I'm staying in Damansara Damai area.
90% of the time my average speed is 150 Kbps. No, no...no need to rub your eyes. You read it right, 150 Kbps average!
Anything above 500 Kbps is cause for celebration for me, and if does hit 1 Mbps (which I cant quite recall) I'd probably break into an odd dance or do the cha cha.
So, I never got my end of the bargain as a Maxis Power Package subscriber, and I do not identify at all with Maxis marketing call of 'speed up to 3.6 Mbps'.
So, Maxis Broadband sucks? Oh, they dont just suck...they're a disgrace.
Hallo all. ive been maxis for 8 month and seems no prob with me...i live in Bukit beruntung and maxis have no mess with me...I always get max connection and always at constant speed about 3.2Mbps..
Thanks for this blog. There is a Maxis roadshow in my company yesterday but luckily I didn't apply for the broadband service, which is the Dell Mini 9 + RM89 x 24 months package. They promised 7Mbps speed and furthermore they said it is the last day.
They said wherever there is Maxis signal coverage, the broadband service is there. I noticed the bar in Dell netbook is just 3 bars, and I took out my handphone (with Maxis SIMS) and noticed the bar is full. Haha~

As I know most of them are from the mentioned provider's IP. :) I think they like to move to other provider but the people subscribed the service bear with the terms and condition. :)

well guys, all of you didn't agree with the speed but did you how did internet really works? how the packet really transmitted ? what is adsl, sdsl, hsdpa, umts, edge, and gprs and also gsm? what in microsoft really telling about the internet and did u know that 20% of default internet is channel to Microsoft auto update and genuine windows detection ? well all the service provide is depended on Qos ? im also a user of maxis broadband and also a celcom user and also a tmnet user and also a lease-line user, im more happy with the maxis because cheap and good customer service rather than celcom. most user never study in internet before they subscribe the service.wisely choose the product study internet. Dun blame others because of your ignorance

Iam sharing bcoz iam the victim also, yes maxis broadband was poor, i think every wireless or wired internet provider is also the the same one word lauzy,i terminated my streamyx broadband last month happen that i subcribe package that come with RM115 permonth guest what watch online video is suckks with this package speed, i belive the telekom cabling are tooo old causing while transmitting data a lot of bandwith loss by the time reach to user its only get 200mb per sec. belive it or not!!! dont get trapee by switching to other service provider, at the end compare to neighbouring country internet service provider we all know the answer,, good luck

Hi tilia, I asked them before about the "due date" that indicated in the statement. You will get the funny answer from them. Actually the maxis "due date" are different with billing. The due date is not for customer reference. It's just for themselves. ha...
after 3gb usage limit..my maxis broadband become dial up...wat can i say?okay...let forget it...but i only get 300-400kbps even i havent reach the limit of usage..i nid to pay rm108 ever month,i goin to change to streamyx after this month.

So good to hear such an assuring answer from a representative of Maxis here, as written by you above it is an obvious facts that Maxis sux big time. We are here not because we enjoy telling lies (which by the facts is not) or even we enjoy making maxis looks bad.

i went back late each day somewhere around 9.00 pm to 10.00 pm and i'll surf the net usually playing some game and youtubing for around 1 to 2 hours daily and on weekends around 8 hours on the net or less...and i'll tell you what by the 18/20 each month i had reach my 3 GB caps......is this worth paying!!!!!RM138 each month? now tell us the user are we being cheated!!!!! i was never brief by your so called sales person on this caps when i signed in(lol i was supposed to read your contract that is more then a few pages to find this right)...please be informed that there is an intention to scam on this as there it stated clearly in your broucher that i'm getting an UNLIMITED PLAN not a Fxxxx 3GB plan.
Looking at your comments i know why i had made one of the most disappointing decision in my life, that is to sign with MAXIS. It is an obvious things now that we as a user is sure, maxis would not CHANGE as what is informed by your....we as the user challenge us to provide us with your work ID and i'll officially will make my complaint with maxis.

The broadband service is very bad. Sometimes it is HSDPA but sometimes it goes to UTMS or EDGE and then disconnected. It happened few times in an hour. This is not my first time experience. I've called your customer service this morning telling the bad problem but she hang-up the call. It is a very bad image to Maxis.
Maxis will loose their customers because of their broadband services. They must do something!

i don't think any of the company can provide 3Mbps in Malaysia when they advertise 3Mbps plan.....it just cheat us to sign up and get stuck with....cancel the plan?????....ha ha ha....fine you the penalthy of 200 ringgit...can u imagine how much money they can make by this cheating act....like celcom,i need to pay 299 for the modem.....signup for 24 months and charge me 99 per months and then if i cancel the plan then they will fine me......
now i am using two broadband at the same time,the streamyx and celcom. non of this are good. this is malaysia boleh lah.....i am sure they are many many people already suffer from this issue and how come the consumer affair department still allow them to do this kind of false acvertisement to cheat all the malaysian people.

Ya i do, i think steamyx is suck, but after using maxis now i feel that is like heaven(streamyx) and hell(maxis).
Maxis only will give you fast speed in 1st two week when we register after that it will be very slow , even i want to play dota in genera also cant.
at least if i using streamyx i can play it.
When i go complaint there tell me because i already finish the download for 3G, bullshit.
Ok if i finish the download as p2p for 3g, then why play online game also cannot???
If like that better i use back streamyx, at least no limitation for download, and the price also lower than MaXis.....

THE WORST broadband in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya is Maxis Broadband! I subscribe for the advanced package at 640kbps as advised by their outlet [It's the maximum they can offer]. I’m lucky to get 50kbps anytime I log on! The only consistent thing about Maxis Broadband is their billing and disconnection! I’m one of the lucky few who have NO CHOICE but to subscribe to Maxis because they have a monopoly in the area. No Telekom.. Only Maxis. The pathetic reasoning for their pathetic service is “too many users”, yet they are aggressively promoting and subscribing new users. Their customer service told me to check my internet speed in order for them to address my slow connection and you can only use THEIR speed check. It takes about 6hrs with my speed to download the speed check program. Advising them that it takes 6hrs didn't help. An Ox could have figured that one out, but NO, Maxis needs a speed check. Tsk..tsk..tsk... sheer brilliance on the part of Maxis, I must say! But hey, I don’t blame them it’s a business right? And who are we customers to complain if we get our rear end rammed? The bigger you are, the harder we get it!

As a customer, I'm absolutely very frustrated with the service rendered.. I feel like been cheated by stupid MAXIS. The internet connection was very slow, almost like old days, dial up internet. Furthermore, it's hard to connect and always get disconnected. Your PC will become slow too. The maxis centre also not so helpful, always giving the same solution, just like the answer already been scripted. Huh.. ;(
Those who are about to register MAXIS stupid Broadband, please withdraw your intention immediately. The service is not worth of your money and time as well.

The home package that u mention is for volume 2GB with speed is "upto" 640kbps/sec. Dont u know it? plz do not say anything till u really ask the centre be4 u say anything.. the plam we give u a modem, 2 months acess fee waived, every month only rm48, what more do u wan? RM48 only!!

i been using maxis broadband for 2years... when i stay in shah alam the connection just UMTS and i move to mutiara damandara i got the best connection HSDPA but not always. i still stuck with 2GB fair data using per month..... now other comp can give 5 to 10 fair data used per month and pay low as 49.......
please wait for few more months! Maxis is already invest RM1.6 billion to do network upgrade! We will enjoy more high speed internet because Maxis will adding more base station in particular area! It will avoid conjestion in your area!

1st of all, i am confused with the package that Maxis provide. Not the speed. But the download data is the diffrent. Kalau macam streamyx, ada package 1mb, 2mb.
so, i subcribe the no device package that offer 2gb download data. i want to know, what happen to my internet connection speed if the download data is reach the maximum (2gb)????

beberapa hari lalu saya reg maxis broadband, apa bila saya guna kelajuan macam sial. konon 7.2Mb laju.. tapi LEMBAB mengalahkan KURA-KURA GERAMNYA.. dan UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD 3G tapi tak sampai pun.. kelajuan Streamyx lagi laju walaupun 1Mb.. MAXIS MMG SIAL..

1st of all, you need to understand what pacakage maxis provide. me is 2gb download data. as you use it for downloading mp3, watch youtube video (streaming online) play online games, it can be heavy. i love that dynamic IP of maxis. this month my download is really slow. i reached the limit. download rate is so slow. but when surf internet is still ok. wait for next month. my traffic is back to normal (2GB) and everything is superb fast web browsing.

yes, i agree with all of you...my kampung is listed as HSDPA area (coloured in green in maxis map, so funny!!!).. however i have discovered that the service is so bad, just like i'M residing in forest..i have to re-connect every 15 mins...to new users, plz do not sign up for this bad damn service... 1. No body realy carefully check the bill, they charged you up and down on the service you are not subscribe plus services tax.
2, Broadband stupid, its never achieved 3.6mb, idiot..
3. Allways stuck and line cut off every 5 minute, if you subscribe the lower package,
4. The postpaid line is teribble, the bill is charge like hell.
5. Stupid idiot new staff at frontline answering the call,they not even know their product, making thing very difficult...full of policy...management decision..
5. stupid counter system at TTDI and Sunway Pyramid, stupid no ticket...can go straight to counter..but the the long que...like bustard..
6. The package and promotion for line with discounted handphone..is realy suck..if you count the contract 24 month...in total you RM 3500 plus for handphone,,,,(for value RM150 and plus handphone)..maxis cheat people.
7. Nobody bother to take action....

This my personel opinion..I might be wrong,,but i am maxis customer for 12 years...I will definately cut off all my services with maxis.
I have been using maxshit for 10 months now and I am far from happy. All I can say is Maxis cheats you. They give you slow connection while they are able to give it. I paid for 3.6mbps package and my speedtest is 0.05mbps FOR THE WHOLE MONTH. I paid 98 every month and I get this super slow connection. Please fellas, spread the word. Don't let your friends and family use Maxis. Let them bankrupt. People are not stupid nowadays. Maxis sucks a lot.
Last night I was upset because my quota limit was up eventhough I purchased unlimited 1.5GB package. I was told by Maxis officer that effective 4.1.10 Maxis has changed the plan to limited usage. Initially I was disappointed when the officer told me that if I cancelled the plan I will be charged RM200.00 eventhough I have just started using it about half a month and the plan was changed without my consent. I then emailed my disatisfaction to Maxis and just now I received a call from the Customer Relationship Unit and she confirmed that I can return the modem without being charged the RM200.00. The prompt and polite response make me feel good and Maxis officers should continue practicing it. If I may named the officers they are Mr Royston, Mr Kent, Mr Ng and Miss Jan.

I'm also tried mxs bb for 1 month and I used it in felda area and also at my kampung. The speed is very low starting 9pm - 12pm. I even have problem especially to open my facebook, YM and also for downloading.
I'm also facing DL : 0.00 kbps | UL : 0.00 kbps most of the time and somtimes not more than 15 kpbs. I never feel 1.5GB speed for RM48.00. I'm very frustated whis this bb and after this I want to use Streamyx.
My iNTERNET SPEED NOW IS 20Mbps! so waht???

I just came bck from Maxis center and find out that i am blacklisted for one of my account. ( without notice)
Worst - they want to charge me with legal fee. (Agaian without Notice or warning)
I have the maxis line and a individual broadband - first
then after one month i change my mobile broadband to bolt on my line.
then everymonth i do pay extra for my phone....... (everymonth )
Then after my contract end . i want to get a new account for my broadband then they tell me my account is blacklisted for outstanding payment...
This is totally unacceptable.. why they didnt give any writting notice....
Really disappointed with Maxis... This is totally not fair to all the loyal customer... This is one of the reason if they do not change their way of working and loss all their loyal customer.. If they do not give a good explaination and action. my whole family and friend will change to other services rather than using this maxis that do not know how to keep their loyal customer.

i went to maxis store. I asked the guy for the broadband he said:
"sorry we can't anything for u, go to the library"

i asked a computer shop next maxis store he told me the seller refused to sell me the braodband cause i m a foreigner.
2 weeks after, i calmed down, went back to maxis. A nother seller accepted to sell me the fucking service; as i'm not malaisian he told me:
"you have to pay 300 f rm deposit" ok mtf take the cash.
once at home, i discovered the usb 3g key is very slow. More silly is that they use a proxy that forbid me the acces to information websites, even yahoo sometimes! it's like middel age mixed with george orwell 1984.
so now i m gonna write to the kantor pusat and ask them to give me my money back.

maxis broadband is improving. one thing everyone should know that internet has the best time and worst time and it can be never good always. Look at kl traffic and you know that it is not always good same thing goes with internet. online games are heavy because your data usage exceeds the limit 3G or 7G. when your data usagae reaches the limit very fast when you play onlline games. then you have to top up or go for higher limit broadband. internet depend on weather condtions and usage of similar website by others. if toomany people use the same website or online games there is traffic congestion. the it is slowed done. log in to your account and check your data usage. you can top up then and there if you have reached the limit. thank you
